Credit Unions in Texas, Washington Tap TNB Card Services to Grow Card Portfolios

Dallas – November 19, 2007 –Continuing strong growth in its card processing operations, TNB Card Services announced today that it has added more new credit union clients to its processing business, including $116 million Energy Capital Credit Union of Houston, Texas, and Generations Credit Union of Olympia, Washington.

The decision to change credit card processors for Energy Capital CU was driven by the need to expand its product offerings to meet member demand. The 73-year-old credit union’s card program had become stagnant, although credit union membership had been growing. Its former card processor offered limited products and capabilities, which prohibited the credit union’s ability to deliver a competitive card program.

"We considered selling the card portfolio, but when we learned that we could offer the same services and products without having to sell, we decided to keep the portfolio and retain TNB to manage it," said Randall Dixon, CEO of Energy Capital Credit Union. "TNB’s service philosophy, its marketing strategies, and products give us everything we need to deliver a competitive card."

The 15,000 member Energy Capital CU serves employees and family members of Exxon Mobil Corporation. The credit union has seven branches in the Houston area.

For Generations Credit Union, the decision to change card processors stemmed from a change the credit union was making in its core processor. Its previous card processor didn’t have a satisfactory means of exchanging data with the core processor, so Generations CU began looking for a new card partner.

"We talked with TNB and we were very impressed by the fact they were willing to do whatever it took to help us through this transition," said Marylin Ball-Brown, president and CEO of Generations CU. "TNB genuinely wanted our business and could do our conversion in the time period we were looking for."

Ball-Brown added that TNB’s reputation for customer service, its product and service flexibility, and its Rewards2U® program were also pluses.

The Olympia-based credit union, which is community chartered for the entire state of Washington, has 4,000 members and assets of $24 million. The 68-year-old credit union got its start serving the employees of the state’s employment security division.
