TNB Card Services Expands Long Relationship with Texas Bay
Area Credit Union, Adding PIN Debit and ATM Processing

DALLASOctober 22, 2007 – In a move calculated to increase its efficiency and reduce potential fraud exposure, Texas Bay Area Credit Union is consolidating all card processing, from credit cards to PIN debit and ATM transactions, to TNB Card Services.

The Pasadena, Texas-based credit union has been using TNB for its credit card processing and signature debit for more than 30 years, and recently decided to move its PIN debit and ATM processing – some 14,000 accounts – to TNB as well. The conversion is under way, scheduled for completion in early 2008.

"We looked at the big picture and asked ourselves if it made sense to have one company driving one part of the program and someone else driving the other," said Paul Withey, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Texas Bay Area CU. "We believed we could gain efficiency by having the entire card program with one processor, and it made sense that TNB would have the whole portfolio," Withey added.

Withey said the credit union already has a strong strategic alliance with TNB. Texas Bay Area CU has been a client of TNB since 1975. The signature debit program is currently with TNB and the credit union uses TNB’s Rewards2U® program for credit and debit cards. Syed Dinar, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, pointed out that TNB’s affiliation with the STAR network was another big plus.

"Our business model is built on offering the right product or service, at the right time, and delivered the right way to our members," Withey said. "We are growing strategically, and this alliance with TNB will help us continue that growth model."

Dusty Bowers, Senior Vice President of TNB Card Services, praised Texas Bay Area CU’s proactive approach toward card processing consolidation. "On their own, they saw the value of a strategic alliance with a single processor. Not only will they improve the efficiency of their card processing, the cardholders will also be better protected from fraud. Texas Bay will now be able to manage fraud using neural networking on all of its card products, which is in the best interest of its members."

Chartered in 1936, Texas Bay Area Credit Union originally served Houston Sinclair Refinery employees. Community chartered since 2002, it now serves the communities of Pasadena, Deer Park, La Porte, and the North Channel area near Houston. The credit union has more than 24,000 members and assets in excess of $189 million.
