TNB Card Services White Paper Focuses on
Benefits of Consolidated Card Processing
DALLAS – January 12, 2009 – The benefits of consolidated card processing are the focus of a new white paper published by TNB Card Services. The seven-page document, titled "The Case for Consolidation," explores the compelling reasons credit unions should move to single-source processing for debit and credit card programs.
Historically, debit and credit card processing have been managed separately, primarily because industry providers specialized in only one type of transaction processing. Today, credit unions can gain greater operational efficiency, improve fraud protection, reduce cost, and enhance member service by consolidating all card processing under one processor.
Having a single point of contact for settlement issues, authorizations, card activations, chargebacks, and call center support allows credit unions to respond more rapidly to cardholder needs, eliminates redundant practices, and improves back-office operations. All of these issues and more are explored in the white paper, which outlines how a single processor for all debit and credit card transactions gives credit unions the ability to better manage their card programs.
A single processor also has the ability to easily establish and market a rewards program that can combine points across multiple card products, as well as other credit union products and services, such as online bill pay, home loans, and auto loans.
"As members continue to move to electronic payments, the time and resources required to effectively manage the programs have increased," said Mark Fenner, senior vice president and national sales manager. "By using one processing partner, credit unions can
better analyze card usage across the portfolio and identify trends more effectively, enabling them to be more responsive in managing risk."
