Communication Federal Credit Union, Oklahoma’s Third Largest Credit Union, Chooses
TNB Card Services as its Processing Partner
Dallas, May 18, 2009 - Communication Federal Credit Union, the third largest credit union in Oklahoma, has chosen TNB Card Services as its card processing partner as it launches an aggressive effort to grow its card program.
Communication, headquartered in Oklahoma City, is in the process of moving its thousands of card accounts over to TNB, where it can take advantage of far greater flexibility than its former processor allowed. That flexibility includes offering rewards to cardholders, a custom card to help brand the credit union among its cardholders, and creative marketing programs to build business.
With 49,000 members and $574 million in total assets, Communication is seeking to pump up a card program that had been flat for several years, explained Christina Titterington, electronic services manager for the credit union.
“At one point, we considered selling our card program, but in talking with TNB, we decided it had a great deal of potential,” Titterington said. “We’ve done some credit card advertising and have been able to increase balances, but we are working with TNB to help promote the card and get it in front of members.”
Titterington added that for Communication, it was TNB’s flexible platform that was the biggest advantage. “We didn’t realize some of the things that we could do to make our card more competitive,” she explained, adding, “Our goal is to create a desirable card that members will be proud to carry and rely on, one that will offer them more choices.”
Among Communication’s plans are consolidation of its card products into gold and platinum offerings only, with risk-based pricing and rewards for platinum cardholders, increased promotions, and use of TNB’s management tools, particularly VIP CardStationTM and VIP Portfolio Pro®.
Now in its 70th year, Communication is a 17-branch federally and state chartered credit union serving more than 250 groups in Oklahoma and Kansas, as well as serving a number of communities.
